We used paper filters and when we switched to the Swissgold filter, we noticed the change in the taste of the coffee, it was much better. My brother, who roasts his own coffee, recommended this filter. We are so happy that we bought it. If you love good coffee, this filter will allow all of the flavor to come through. I am very happy with it.
This Swissgold Cone-Shape Coffee Filter is just perfect. It cleans easily and save money.
Works great and cleans up easy. Can't compare it to less expensive options, but I would certainly purchase this again.
The biggest issue I have with the filter is it lets the water flow the grounds through *way* too fast, making a weaker cup than usual. The first time I used this, I actually poured the water over the grounds twice to get something that looks like a regular cup of coffee. The filters I'm used to using are paper Filtropa, and I usually use about 2TBS coffee per 8 oz cup. I think I'll stick with the paper until I run out. The paper filters have no problem making a decent cup.I'm using the Swissgold filter with a one-cup pour-over filter holder from Sweet Maria's and 195+ degree F filtered water.
I always used paper filters until ordering this Swissgold permanent filter. I don't grind my own beans; I use either pre-ground premium brands (e.g., Starbuck's, Seattle's Best, etc)., or I grind beans from local roasters at the supermarket using the supermarket grinder on the drip setting. The gold filter works very well and is better than paper. I use it with a Krups 12 cup carafe-style coffee maker. With the Swissgold filter, the coffee definitely has superior flavor compared to paper filters. With the coffees I use there is no "sludge" coming through the filter.
